The Enggano Cuckoo-Dove is a very localized species, endemic to Enggano Island off the coast of Sumatra. It is a long-tailed pigeon characterized by its unique cinnamon-brown plumage and relatively short bill.
Where to spot
Endemic to Enggano Island, off the southwestern coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Inhabits lowland rainforest and secondary forest, primarily in areas of dense tree cover.
How to spot
Identify by its specific location and the distinctive cinnamon-brown coloration, along with the typical long tail of a cuckoo-dove. Due to its rarity, any observation should be treated with care and promptly reported to conservation efforts.
When to spot
Active during daylight. Best observed during the cooler parts of the day, particularly mornings, when it may be more vocal and foraging more actively.
