Where to spot
Primary and mature secondary lowland rainforests of West and Central Africa.
How to spot
Look for its dark brown upperparts, paler streaked underparts, and often a shaggy crest. Its presence is often revealed by its distinctive loud calls, particularly around its nesting sites, making sound a key identification aid.
When to spot
