Spotted
The Burmese Yuhina is a localized species found in the mountains of Myanmar. It is typically found in dense montane forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to Myanmar, particularly in the northern and western mountainous regions. Inhabits montane evergreen and mixed forests with dense undergrowth and bamboo.
How to spot
Look for its small size, greyish-brown plumage, and a slight crest. It is often found in small, active flocks, moving through dense foliage. Listen for its typical high-pitched yuhina calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during the day. Observing it might be easier during the breeding season (spring-summer) when it is more vocal.
This species' restricted range within the mountains of Myanmar makes it a special avian resident of that particular region.
