The Mountain White-eye is a widespread and variable species of white-eye, primarily found in the montane regions of eastern Africa. It is characterized by its prominent white eye-ring and olive-green upperparts.
Where to spot
Common in montane forests, woodlands, forest edges, and cultivated areas across eastern Africa, from Sudan to Mozambique.
How to spot
Look for small, active birds moving quickly through vegetation, often in flocks. Identify by the distinct white eye-ring and their rapid, high-pitched chirping calls.
When to spot
Observable year-round, with peak activity during early mornings and late afternoons when birds are actively feeding.
