The Flame-winged Parakeet is a striking green parakeet known for the vibrant red and orange patches on its wing bend, resembling flames. It is endemic to the Andes of Colombia.

Humid montane cloud forests and forest edges in the Eastern and Central Andes of Colombia.
How to spot
Search for them in the mid-to-upper strata of the forest. They are often encountered in small groups, giving away their presence with their chattering calls.
When to spot
Year-round. Best observed during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning and late afternoon.
