The Golden-capped Parakeet is a vividly colored parakeet with a predominantly green body, a golden-yellow cap, orange patches on its belly, and red at the wing bend. It is endemic to eastern Brazil.
Where to spot
Humid forests, Atlantic Forest remnants, and disturbed woodlands in eastern Brazil.
How to spot
Look for them in small flocks moving through the forest canopy. Listen for their characteristic loud, screeching calls, which help in their detection.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active in the early morning and late afternoon when foraging and commuting between feeding and roosting sites.
