The Blue-headed Parrot is a striking medium-sized parrot, easily identified by its vibrant blue head and green body. It is widespread across Central and South America.
Where to spot
Humid lowland and foothill forests, including secondary growth and forest edges, from Costa Rica to Brazil and Bolivia.
How to spot
Look for the bright blue head, contrasting sharply with its green body. Listen for its loud, high-pitched, often nasal calls, which are very characteristic.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, particularly noisy in the morning and late afternoon. It is a resident species.
