Where to spot
Humid evergreen forests, often near rivers and forest edges, in the western Amazon basin of southeastern Peru, northwestern Bolivia, and far western Brazil.
How to spot
Look for them flying over the forest canopy or perched in tall trees. They are often found in pairs or small groups. Listen for their typical macaw calls, though they are less harsh than larger macaws.

Year-round. Best observed during the early morning and late afternoon, especially when visiting clay licks.
