Where to spot
Found in West and Central Africa, from Nigeria to Cameroon and Gabon. Inhabits lowland rainforests and mature secondary forests.
How to spot
Search the mid-story to upper canopy of dense forests. Look for the iridescent blue sheen on the male's back and the prominent red wattle. Listen for their sharp, buzzing, or clicking calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round in its habitat. Active throughout the day.
