Spotted
Archer's Ground Robin is a small, elusive bird with a subtle brownish-rufous plumage and a pale eye-ring. It is an inhabitant of dense montane forests.
Where to spot
Found in the Albertine Rift montane forests of East-Central Africa, specifically in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda.
How to spot
Requires extreme patience. Look for subtle movements on the forest floor. Listening for its soft, clear, whistling song, often delivered from within dense cover, is the best way to locate it.
When to spot
A resident species, observable year-round. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon, often foraging in the dark undergrowth.
This species is particularly secretive and spends much of its time foraging on the forest floor, making it a challenging species for birdwatchers to spot in its natural habitat.
