Where to spot
Found in arid regions of Northeast Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, inhabiting rocky deserts, dry wadis, and stony plains.
How to spot
Search on open, stony ground with sparse low vegetation. Its plain brown plumage provides good camouflage, so careful scanning is needed. Look for its characteristic tail movements.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active throughout the day, particularly during cooler morning and late afternoon hours.
This species is sometimes considered part of the Rufous-tailed Rock Thrush complex, highlighting the subtle distinctions that differentiate it.
