The Anjouan White-eye is an endemic species to Anjouan Island in the Comoros archipelago. This small passerine is characterized by its bright yellow underparts and prominent white eye-ring.
Where to spot
Found exclusively on Anjouan Island, Comoros, inhabiting forests, cultivated areas, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for small, active, yellow-bellied birds with a white eye-ring, often moving in small groups through the foliage. Listen for their typical twittering calls.
When to spot
Active year-round. Most visible during the early morning and late afternoon when foraging.
Like many island endemics, this species has evolved in isolation, leading to unique characteristics distinct from its mainland relatives.
