Endemic to the Cape Verde Islands (Cabo Verde) in the Atlantic Ocean, west of Senegal. Look for it over coastal cliffs, towns, and arid inland areas of the islands.
How to spot
Observe its typical swift flight pattern: rapid wingbeats followed by long glides. It can be distinguished from other swifts by its smaller size and relatively pale throat patch, though identification from Common Swift can be challenging without good views.

Active year-round in the Cape Verde Islands, though population numbers may fluctuate. Best observed during the day, particularly in the morning and late afternoon.
