The Yemen Serin is a small, streaky finch with a yellowish wash on its underparts, endemic to the mountains of Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Where to spot
Endemic to the high mountains of Yemen and southwestern Saudi Arabia. It inhabits terraced cultivation, juniper woodland, and rocky slopes.
How to spot
Explore mountainous agricultural areas and juniper woodlands. Look for them feeding on seeds on the ground or in low vegetation. Listen for their typical serin calls.
When to spot
Visible year-round in its resident range. Best observed during the breeding season when males are more vocal and active.
This species is often found in small flocks, moving through mountainous terrain in search of food.
