A small, somewhat plump bird found in the understory of tropical forests. It is known for its striking yellow throat.
Where to spot
Dense lowland rainforests of Central Africa, typically foraging in the lower strata.
How to spot
Search in the dense undergrowth and near fallen logs. It can be elusive, so listen for its high-pitched calls.

Active throughout the day, but often more vocal in the mornings. Year-round resident.
Despite its name 'Antpecker,' it primarily feeds on insects, including ants, but doesn't 'peck' them in the manner of a woodpecker.
