The Yellow-naped Amazon is a large, predominantly green parrot known for the distinctive yellow band on its nape. It is found in Central America and is highly prized for its mimicry abilities.
Where to spot
Dry forests, savannas, and cultivated areas along the Pacific slopes of southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
How to spot
Look for its green body and the prominent yellow band on the nape of its neck. Listen for its loud, varied squawks and whistles.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, particularly noisy at dawn and dusk. It is a resident species.
