Spotted
The White-breasted Woodswallow is a widespread and common species, easily recognized by its dark upperparts and striking white underparts. It possesses a pale blue bill with a black tip.
Where to spot
Ranges across Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia, inhabiting coastal areas, open woodlands, agricultural lands, and even urban environments.
How to spot
Look for them perched conspicuously on telephone wires, fences, or dead trees in open country. Their contrasting white belly and dark back make them easy to identify in flight.
When to spot
Resident year-round in most parts of its range. Easily observed during daylight hours as it perches and forages.

This species, like others in its genus, often 'duffs' or rubs its bill against branches to remove excess nectar or sticky substances after feeding, a unique grooming behavior.
