Where to spot
Native to southeastern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, and northeastern Argentina, favoring humid forests and forest edges.
How to spot
Seek them in tropical and subtropical forests, plantations, and parks. Look for their metallic green body, purplish-blue throat, and forked tail (in males). Listen for their high-pitched calls.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its range, active throughout the day, especially around flowering plants.
