Spotted
The Dusky Blue Flycatcher (*Artomyias ussheri*, now *Fraseria ussheri*) is an attractive African flycatcher known for its overall dusky blue-grey plumage. It is typically found in the canopy of humid forests.
Where to spot
Inhabits the mid-canopy and upperstory of humid lowland and gallery forests in West and Central Africa, from Sierra Leone to Cameroon and Gabon.
How to spot
Look for its distinctive dusky blue-grey plumage. It often perches quietly on exposed branches high in the canopy. Listening for its soft, high-pitched calls can help in detection.
When to spot
Resident year-round. It is most active during the early morning and late afternoon, often sallying out from perches to catch flying insects.
Its elegant blue-grey coloration allows it to blend subtly into the dappled light of the forest canopy, making it a challenge to spot despite its beauty.
