Spotted
The Unicoloured Thrush (*Turdus unicolor*) is a shy and rather uniformly plumaged thrush found in the Himalayas and surrounding regions. It is characterized by its dull olive-brown upperparts and paler, somewhat mottled underparts.
Where to spot
Inhabits humid broadleaf and mixed forests, particularly in the understory and along forest edges, in the Himalayas, ranging from northern India to parts of Nepal and China.
How to spot
Due to its shy nature and dull plumage, it can be challenging to spot. Listen for its quiet, melodious, and somewhat mournful song, often delivered from within dense cover. Look for movement on the forest floor.
When to spot
Resident in much of its range, but some populations undertake altitudinal migrations, moving to lower elevations during winter. Best sought during the breeding season (spring/summer) when more vocal.

Its name, 'unicoloured,' aptly describes its rather plain and uniform plumage, which helps it blend seamlessly into the dense forest undergrowth.
