Spotted
Seebohm's Wheatear is a striking wheatear species with a restricted breeding range. Males are characterized by a bold black and white head pattern and an orange-rufous breast contrasting with a dark belly.
Where to spot
Breeds primarily in the Atlas Mountains of Northwest Africa. Winters in arid regions of the Sahara. Found in high-altitude stony slopes and plateaus.
How to spot
Search rocky, arid mountain slopes. The male's distinctive facial pattern and rusty underparts are key. Look for the typical wheatear behavior of perching low and flicking its tail.
When to spot
Best observed during the breeding season from April to July in its mountain habitats. Less commonly observed during short migration movements (March-April, August-September).

This species is considered an altitudinal migrant, moving between high mountain breeding grounds and lower elevation wintering areas within its regional distribution, rather than long-distance migration.
