Szechenyi's Snowcock is a robust, high-altitude game bird found in the remote mountains of Tibet and China. Its plumage provides excellent camouflage against its barren, rocky surroundings.
Where to spot
Inhabits high-altitude grasslands, rocky slopes, and alpine meadows in eastern Tibet and western China.
How to spot
Requires extensive hiking in remote, high-altitude areas. Use a powerful spotting scope to scan distant slopes and ridges for movement, and listen for their distinctive calls.
When to spot
Best chances are during the cooler parts of the day, early morning or late afternoon, when they are actively foraging.
