Where to spot
Found on rocky, well-vegetated slopes and montane evergreen forests in the escarpment zone of western Angola.
How to spot
Observing this species is extremely difficult. Focus on rugged, undisturbed montane habitats. Listen for any potential calls, and exercise extreme patience and quiet observation. Requires dedicated field efforts.
When to spot
Observations are highly opportunistic due to its rarity and secretive nature. Early morning might offer the best chance of detection.
This species is one of Africa's least known spurfowls, and its natural history and population status remain largely understudied, adding to its mysterious appeal.
