Where to spot
Humid montane forests, cloud forests, and adjacent cultivated areas along the Andes of Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina. Also established feral populations worldwide.
How to spot
Listen for their loud, raucous calls. Look for large flocks flying rapidly or perched together in tall trees. Individual variation in red facial markings can be noted.

Year-round. Most active at dawn and dusk when flying to and from communal roosts.
