The Sulawesi White-eye is a distinctive species endemic to the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is characterized by its plain green plumage and prominent eye-ring.
Where to spot
Endemic to Sulawesi and some adjacent smaller islands in Indonesia. Inhabits primary and secondary forests, forest edges, and cultivated areas, from lowlands to mountains.
How to spot
Look for its clear white eye-ring, overall olive-green plumage, and plain yellow underparts. Often found in small, active flocks, foraging in the canopy. Listen for its typical high-pitched white-eye calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during the day. Easily observed throughout the year.
Sulawesi is a biodiversity hotspot, and this white-eye is one of many endemic species found on the island.
