Where to spot
Widespread in humid lowland and foothill forests, forest edges, and mature secondary growth throughout the Amazon basin and Guiana Shield.
How to spot
Look for it actively moving through the mid-story and canopy, often in mixed-species flocks. Its spotted pattern is distinctive.
When to spot
Active year-round. Most observable in the early morning and late afternoon when foraging.
This tanager often forms the nucleus of mixed-species foraging flocks, attracting other birds to its active movements through the canopy.
