The Common Bulbul is a widespread and highly variable species across Africa and parts of the Middle East. It is generally drab brown, but often has a distinctive red or yellowish vent, and a dark eye-stripe.

Widespread across Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of the Middle East. Found in almost every habitat type, from forests and woodlands to savannahs, scrublands, and urban gardens.

Easily observed in most wooded or garden areas. Look for its active foraging, and listen for its distinctive, often cheerful, series of chirps and whistles.
