Spotted
The Streaky-breasted Bunting, also known as the Plain-backed Bunting, is a less common African bunting found in dry acacia savannas. It has a dull, streaky plumage.
Where to spot
Found in localized areas of East Africa, including Ethiopia, Sudan, and Somalia. Inhabits dry acacia savannas and thorny scrub.
How to spot
Look for it foraging on the ground in dry, thorny scrubland. Its plain, streaky brown plumage makes it inconspicuous. Listen for its soft calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Observation can be challenging due to its elusive nature and habitat. Breeding occurs during the local wet season.
