Where to spot
Endemic to arid regions of southern Africa, including South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. Inhabits dry savannas, grasslands, and semi-deserts with scattered trees or telephone poles.
How to spot
Look for their massive, haystack-like communal nests in prominent trees or structures. Observe the birds entering and exiting individual chambers. Listen for their constant chattering and twittering calls.
