The St Helena Petrel is an extinct species of petrel that was endemic to St Helena in the South Atlantic. It was a medium-sized, dark petrel.
Where to spot
Historically bred on St Helena Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. No living individuals exist.

Cannot be observed in the wild. Information is limited to scientific studies of skeletal remains and historical accounts.

Extinct. Only observable through historical records and fossil evidence.
This species went extinct primarily due to predation by introduced rats and cats shortly after human settlement, serving as a powerful example of the vulnerability of island endemics.
