The Mottled Petrel is a medium-sized gadfly petrel with a distinctive dark 'M' pattern on its upperwing, found in the North Pacific Ocean. It is a powerful migratory species.
Where to spot
Breeds on islands off New Zealand and the Chatham Islands. Undertakes a trans-equatorial migration to the North Pacific, foraging extensively from California to Alaska.
