Spotted
The White Imperial-Pigeon is a large, elegant pigeon almost entirely white, with only the tips of its primary feathers being black. It's an arboreal species, spending most of its time high within the forest canopy.
Where to spot
Lowland and hill forests of Sulawesi and the northern Moluccas in Indonesia.
How to spot
Scan the upper canopy of large trees. Its large size and white color make it stand out against the green foliage, especially when perched in good light. Listen for its deep, resonant coos.
When to spot
Throughout the year, particularly during early morning and late afternoon when they are most active.
Its pure white plumage provides excellent camouflage against bright skies when viewed from below, helping it blend into the light filtering through the canopy, making it harder for predators to spot.
