The Seychelles Scops Owl is a critically endangered owl endemic to Mahé Island in the Seychelles. It is a rare and highly localized species inhabiting montane forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to Mahé Island, Seychelles, primarily in higher elevation montane mist forests.
How to spot
Extremely difficult to observe due to its rarity and restricted habitat. Primarily identified by its distinctive, frog-like 'waa-waa' call. Requires dedicated nocturnal searches within the Morne Seychellois National Park.
When to spot
Strictly nocturnal. Most vocal from dusk until midnight.
