Where to spot
Endemic to the humid montane cloud forests of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia.
How to spot
Requires visiting specific protected areas within its tiny range. Listen for its distinctive, often deep hooting calls. It is exceptionally shy and difficult to observe.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most vocal during early morning.
