Where to spot
Endemic to the montane forests of New Guinea, typically found at higher elevations.
How to spot
Look for its olive-brown upperparts, paler underparts, and the distinctive rufous patch on the nape (back of the neck). Listen for its loud, clear, and complex whistling song, characteristic of high-altitude whistlers.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active and vocal during early mornings and late afternoons, particularly during the breeding season.
