The Ruddy-capped Nightingale-Thrush is a widespread Central American thrush, easily identified by its distinctive reddish-brown cap. It has olive-brown upperparts and a pale, often spotted, underside.
Where to spot
Humid montane forests, cloud forests, and dense woodlands from Mexico to Panama.
How to spot
Search the undergrowth and lower to mid-story of montane forests. Listen attentively for its beautiful song, which is often heard from a hidden perch.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active and vocal during dawn and dusk. More vocal during the breeding season.
