The Chestnut-capped Thrush is a striking thrush found in Southeast Asia, easily identified by its contrasting chestnut-colored cap and dark-spotted white underparts.
Where to spot
Lowland and lower montane rainforests and dense secondary growth in Southeast Asia, including parts of Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
How to spot
Look on the forest floor, especially in shaded, damp areas. Its chestnut cap is a clear identification feature. It can be shy, so move slowly and quietly.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during early morning and late afternoon.
