The River Warbler is a plain, olive-brown warbler with a pale supercilium and faint streaking on its underparts. It is a secretive species of dense, moist forest undergrowth.
Where to spot
Resident in the Andes Mountains from Venezuela south through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia.
How to spot
Look in very dense, wet undergrowth, often near streams, in humid montane forests. It is extremely secretive. Listen intently for its distinctive, insect-like song.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round within its resident montane forest habitats. More vocal during the local breeding season.
