How to spot
Identify by its small size, pale grey plumage, a distinctive black patch on the hindneck (not a full collar), and white outer tail feathers. Listen closely for its characteristic repetitive call.
When to spot
A year-round resident throughout its range. Active throughout the day, often seen foraging for seeds on the ground.
