The Bar-throated Minla is a small, active babbler found across the Himalayas and Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its prominent black streaking on a white or yellowish throat, giving it a 'barred' appearance.
Where to spot
Widespread from the Himalayas (Nepal, Bhutan, northeastern India) eastward through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southern China. Inhabits montane evergreen and mixed forests, preferring mid-canopy and understory.
How to spot
Listen for its high-pitched, chattering calls. Look for fast-moving, small birds in mixed flocks. The dark streaking on its throat is the key identification feature.

Resident year-round. Active throughout the day, particularly visible in the mornings within mixed-species flocks.
