Where to spot
Widespread across West and Central Africa, inhabiting primary and secondary rainforests, forest edges, and dense thickets.

Look for its distinctive rufous-red tail, which is very prominent against its olive body. Listen for its loud, varied calls. It is an active bird, often on the move.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its resident tropical habitat. Most active during daylight hours, particularly in the morning.
This species often forages in mixed-species flocks, moving quickly through the mid-story and lower canopy, constantly searching for insects and fruits, using its tail as a flash pattern.
