The Red-billed Pytilia is a relatively drabber pytilia, found in the highlands of Ethiopia. It has a grey head, brown back, and finely barred underparts, distinguished by its red bill.
Where to spot
Endemic to the highlands of Ethiopia, inhabiting montane forests, forest edges, and dense scrubland.
How to spot
Look for it in dense cover, often foraging on the ground or in low bushes. The red bill is the most distinguishing feature, as its plumage is less colorful than other pytilias.
When to spot
Year-round within its specific highland habitat. Most active during early mornings.
