The Splendid White-eye is a striking species endemic to Kolombangara Island in the Solomon Islands. It is a larger white-eye with a bold white eye-ring and distinctive yellow-green and olive plumage.
Where to spot
Found exclusively on Kolombangara Island, Solomon Islands, inhabiting montane forests.
How to spot
Look for a relatively larger white-eye with a prominent white eye-ring, moving through the mid-story and canopy. Listen for its strong, melodious calls.
When to spot
Active year-round, with peak foraging in the mornings and late afternoons.
Its 'splendid' name refers to its somewhat larger size and more robust appearance compared to many other white-eye species.
