Dense evergreen forests, often in shaded ravines or near streams, in the Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Look for it perching upright in the understory, often flicking its wings. Its slaty-blue back and white belly are distinctive.
When to spot
Year-round resident in most areas. Most active in the early morning.
