Humid lowland rainforests in the western Amazon of southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru, and western Brazil.
How to spot
Scan the canopy and upper mid-story of tall fruiting trees. Look for its iridescent blue with the plum throat. They tend to be silent and perch motionlessly.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during early mornings when feeding on fruits.
