Spotted
The Pirre Warbler is a small, distinctive warbler with a yellow-olive back, bright yellow underparts, a gray crown, and a prominent black mask with a yellow supercilium.
Where to spot
Endemic to the highlands of eastern Panama and adjacent northwestern Colombia (Serranía del Darién).
How to spot
Look in humid montane and cloud forests at high elevations, often in dense undergrowth. It can be secretive. Listen for its high-pitched, accelerating song.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round within its resident montane forest habitats, though movements between elevations occur seasonally. More vocal during the local breeding season.
This species is an elevational migrant, breeding at higher altitudes and moving to slightly lower elevations during the non-breeding season within its restricted range.
