The Plumbeous Warbler is a slender, grayish warbler with a distinct white eye-ring and two faint white wing bars. Its overall muted plumage makes it blend well into its dry, montane habitat.
Where to spot
Resident in the highlands of Mexico, primarily in the Sierra Madre Occidental and Oriental ranges.
How to spot
Look in dry pine-oak woodlands and mixed coniferous forests at high elevations. It often forages actively in the mid-story and canopy. Listen for its high-pitched, buzzy song.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round within its resident montane forest habitats. Most vocal during the local breeding season.
This species is a resident of high-altitude pine and pine-oak forests, often foraging by gleaning insects from the outer foliage of trees and shrubs.
