The Pink-throated Twinspot is an exquisite finch found in the dry woodlands and scrublands of Southern Africa. Males have a distinctive pink throat patch, with red cheeks and white-spotted flanks.
Where to spot
Endemic to dry woodlands, savannas, and thorny scrub of Southern Africa, primarily Mozambique and South Africa.
How to spot
Look for it foraging on the ground in dense cover. The pink throat and white-spotted flanks are key identification features, especially for males.
When to spot
Year-round, but can be elusive. Best observed during the breeding season when males are more vocal.
