The Pied Thrush is a distinctive and migratory thrush found in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Males are striking black and white, while females are duller with olive-brown and white.
Where to spot
Breeds in the Himalayas and winters in lowland forests across India, Sri Lanka, and parts of Southeast Asia. Prefers dense, moist forests.
How to spot
Look on the forest floor or low branches in dense undergrowth. During migration, they can be found in a variety of habitats. Males are unmistakable due to their pied plumage.

Breeds in spring/summer in the Himalayas; observed during autumn and spring migration in lowlands, and winter in its southern range. Active early morning and late afternoon.
