The Pardusco is a unique and rather enigmatic tanager, notable for its drab, earthy plumage and often solitary behavior. It is endemic to high-altitude cloud forests.
Where to spot
Strictly confined to high-elevation cloud forests and elfin woodlands in the Andes, often in areas with dense moss and epiphytes.
How to spot
Seek it out in the dense, often foggy, canopy and subcanopy of cloud forests. Its inconspicuous plumage requires careful searching and patience.
When to spot
Can be observed throughout the year. Most active during the day, particularly early morning.
